our roots

That picture above wasn't always how things were for me. In fact, it still isn’t, but I now make a concerted effort each day to move more and move better, so I can feel better. It’s a process, but nothing ever worth it was easy.

Prior to becoming a Physical Therapist, I spent years suffering from numerous occurrences of back pain, often times debilitating. Though I could always return to my sports and activities that I love, I continually hurt myself and eventually had to stop being active altogether. During this time, like many people, I spent countless hours seeing numerous different practitioners. Each were lovely and able to help, but my problems kept coming back. I got to a point where I thought, there MUST be something all of us were missing.

Through my educational pursuits and readings, I came across RockTape. A movement company that changed my view of movement, physical rehabilitation and the human experience. Through the amazing minds and instructors associated with them, and their guidance, I started thinking; If your dream job doesn't exist, create it. Born out of passion, Adhartas Physical Therapy was created in August of 2018.

It began with the idea that customer service is key, and that there will always be a market for different, or complimentary. Afterall, I couldn’t have been the only one who felt something was missing, so I got the ball rolling.

Since our humble beginnings, we have grown enough to call Norak Crossfit our home, where we have combined forces with some of Winnipeg’s best Trainers, and amazing Osteopaths and Massage Therapists in Kinetically Whole Therapies.

Scottish-Gaelic for “Progress”, Adhartas stands for the idea that we should always be striving to be better than we were the day before. Our approach is predicated on the idea that some people require more time dedicated to them and their experiences, all with the goal of empowering them to help themselves become the most resilient, self-sufficient people they can be. In the words of William J. Mayo, “The aim of medicine is to prevent disease and prolong life, the ideal of medicine is to eliminate the need of a physician.”

My approach is Holistic, funnelled through a Nervous System lens. It is my belief that therapy should be fun, inclusive, and centred completely around you and your goals. Each time you visit us that time is spent together, with the goal of empowering you to take back control of your life, so that you eventually no longer need our services.

progress. not process.
